Coaches

Coach Alisha Berg

Hello! I’m Alisha Berg the Head Coach of the South River Sentinels Girl’s Rugby Club. I have been involved with rugby since I was a Junior in High School. I attended an all girls high school in Milwaukee, WI called Divine Savior Holy Angels. At my school Rugby was huge and we were even Nationally Ranked. I finally decided to play rugby after soccer and basketball were beginning to lose my interest and I wanted something new. I was always a physical athlete so Rugby soon became a very natural fit. I then went on to attend the University of Saint Thomas where I founded the Women’s Rugby Club. That was such an amazing challenge but it taught me so much about myself and the game. Now you can find me running around on the pitch with the Menagerie with Krista from time to time when I am healthy. Due to all my experience and different adventure with rugby I have now found my way to coaching as well. I am so excited to start a new rugby chapter in my life.

To anyone who is looking into rugby and why you should play I have a few reasons:

1. This sport is for everyone – there is a position for everyone whether you short or tall, fast or slow – there is a spot for you
2. Your teammates will become family. I have made some of my best friends through rugby and they are the people I know I can count on 100%
3. Cross-Training…..because Rugby is a cross between a few sports it is the perfect way for any athlete to stay in shape and improve on their skills in the off-season or just get in better shape all together.

Lastly, while this is a new adventure for me I am more than excited to embark on it with the Sentinels Girls Club. So please come join us and I promise you will see 100% effort from me every day to make this club something special.

Coach Brittany Brown

Hello, my name is Brittney and I am an Assistant Coach for the South River Sentinels Girl’s Rugby Club! I have been involved in rugby since my Junior year in College at Mankato State. I joined rugby because I was very active in high school with hockey and golf, but when I got to college I wanted to try something new and many of my friends were on the rugby team already and I thought I will give it a try. I instantly fell in love with the family like community and that the same rules apply for the men and women’s teams! Not to mention it got me in the best shape of my life! I currently do pick up games with the Sioux Falls Women’s team whenever they are up in the cities or are in need of another player for their match. Being so far away I do not get to play as much but I had an amazing opportunity to coach the Eagan 7’s teams this past summer and found my new passion in coaching. I am excited to coach again this spring and help grow the game I am so passionate about!
